Day 126-129 My Week in DC

Hello!

So, instead of having a day by day thing, I'm going to sum everything up in one post. I'll add pics when I get my hands on some! This is about my week in DC March 19-22 with theatre!

On Tuesday, we saw Sheer Madness at the Kennedy Center for the Arts. It was okay. It wasn't exactly my humor. We also saw A Behanding in Spokane, which was really good! It was absolutely hilarious. We ate dinner at the famous Ben's Chili Bowl, where chili was invented (I think).

On Wednesday, we went to the National Art Gallery, where the only Da Vinci in the western hemisphere is housed. I saw it- up close and personal. There were so many paintings that were just breathtaking. It was really awesome to be there. Later Wednesday, we went to the opera! The opera was *insert name here as soon as you find out*. I'm going to be honest and say that I fell asleep during Act 1. BUT, I was awake for the rest! I really, truly was! The singing was very beautiful, and yes oh look at me, so cultured, going to operas, ooh lala.

On Thursday, we went to a few museums, and did a lot of walking around and seeing the various monuments. We took a tour of the Capitol. My main memories of that day are about dinner. We went to a fancy shmancy authentic Italian restaurant in Georgetown. The food was to die for. Amazing. Really Amazing. Afterwords, we drove all the way to Wolftrapp, Virginia to see Second City perform. Second City is a pretty famous comedy troupe made up of twenty-somethings who eventually go on to do SNL. Tina Fey is an alumni. At first, I didn't find their jokes funny at all. It was so bad that I smiled dumbly once and awhile, because I felt bad that I wasn't laughing. During Act 2, it got really funny. Much, better. I genuinely laughed during the second act. When we returned to the hotel, I stayed up with my roommates Celeste and Nina until 4 in the morning, which wasn't the smartest of all ideas, but was really fun. Beginning at around 1, we kept saying, "Okay, last story, then we sleep". Never happened.

On Friday went went to the Old Post Pavilion. I was under impressed by the businesses inside. They were those cheap, by earrings and a mug with the words "DC" on it, kind of stores. Every store was exactly the same. I like different looking stuff from the places I visit, I'm not one for souvenirs like pens and t-shirts. HOWEVER, this is DC, not like South Africa or something. At around noon, we headed home on the bus. We watched "Silver Linings Playbook", which is HILARIOUS! I loved it so much! If you haven't seen it, you should. We also watched "Les Mis". I am going to assume that you are already aware of my love for "Les Mis". Love it. Yes, I was that annoying girl mouthing the lyrics the whole time. You don't know how hard it was not to sing along! When I first saw it with Grace, I had to shush her in the theatre for singing along to "Red and Black". She didn't even realize that she was singing.

So that was my week in DC! Lots of firsts this week! I'm extremely grateful that I got to go with theatre.
